Dark American Lager is an American standard lager with dark color added. However little or no dark malt flavoring is present.
History
Essentially a darkened American lager similar in some ways to Bock, but lacking any dark malt or the Bock's malty flavoring. Dark American lagers are often brewed with syrups as coloring agents to darken the beer without substantially changing the basic American lager flavor.
Description
Light to medium body, with low malt flavor and aroma. No dark malt flavor. Low bitterness and hop aroma. Deep amber to dark brown color. Clear. No diacytl. Highly carbonated. A version of American Standard Lager with color added. Little or no dark malts flavor. Caramel syrup used to add color without changing flavor.

- Bitterness Range: 8.0-20.0 IBU

- BJCP Style Number: 4 A
